ACADEMIC EQUIVALENCE METHOD

USLC uses any combination of the following academic equivalence methods which evaluate all sources of potential credits, including: courses by mail and internet, equivalency examinations, credit for work/professional-experience learning, credit by learning contract, credential and transcript evaluation service, foreign academic experiences, and the academic credit bank service and, converts them into college credits. Information is collected and presented in a systematic way. Appropriate documentation procedures are spelled out and followed; assessment techniques appropriate to the learning are applied by the faculty. Records are kept to show the patterns of advising and instruction that were used and who used them. Ultimately, credit is awarded only if the “acquired credentials” are equivalent to what would have been taught in a college level course and the applicant has sufficient, verifiable and demonstrable academic knowledge and skills.

SEMESTRAL FORMAT & CONTACT TIME

Without prejudice to the professor’s Academic Freedom, the required contact hours (or its equivalent) will be one (1) hour* recitation, lecture, discussion, testing or evaluation, seminar or colloquium with two (2) hours collaborative research project/planning (e.g., Causal Research, Descriptive Research or Relational Research) per week for fifteen (15) weeks** per semester in a trimester format.

Note: *1 academic hour (standard) = 1 unit
1 subject = 3 hours x 15 weeks = 45 hours per subject**

All classes are conducted in a student-centered, conference-type setting with flexible modes of teaching which is based on stringent academic standard and sound learning outcome.

Attendance and non-attendance (optional):

Core = no attendance required; but students may apply for scheduled guided study or meeting; frequency is based on the contractual agreement between the professor and the student. (See School Year calendar)

Major = no attendance required (if declaring ACTS credits)

CEU Post Graduate  Certificate/Bridging Program/Specialist Program -

Continuing Education Units (CEU) is an instructional program which brings participants up to date in a particular area of knowledge or skills. Completion of the program leads to professional certificate. While the Bridging Program, a block transfer credits from Associate's to Bachelor's degree, is offered in almost any degree type; the Specialist Program (SPE) is limited to education and psychology programs. In many fields outside of education, the Post Graduate Certificate fills the same need as an SPE. We award the SPE for study beyond the Master's degree but below the Doctorate.
